MORE Family Collection’s historic Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel has reopened to guests this December, following an extensive refurbishment that enhanced the many hallmarks that guests have come to love while introducing several fresh and fashionable new additions.
Located within the buzz of Cape Town’s trendy Kloof Street Neighbourhood and consistently recognised in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards, Cape Cadogan is effortlessly elegant and promises a ‘stylish city stay’ on the doorstep of many of the Mother City’s top attractions like Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront.
Built in the 1800s and with National Monument status, this charismatic boutique property now enters a new era with a modern upgrade that is sleek and sexy.
From luxurious fabrics and furnishings to a striking colour palette of emerald-green, touches of gold and classic black and white, this incarnation of Cape Cadogan is simultaneously elegant and edgy.
The property now features a choice of 19 luxurious en-suite rooms of varying sizes, suitable for romantic getaways, solo or business travellers, and families with children aged 10 and older.
On-site additions to Cape Cadogan include a spa, gymnasium, restaurant, and a private meeting room available on request.
Guests can retreat to the comfortable lounge areas or around either of the two pools, while the upmarket spa offersmassages, facials, manicures, pedicures, and more – perfect for an afternoon spoil when staying in for a day or in-between outings.
Most exciting is MORE Family Collection’s first foray into restaurants – named Upper Union after its location on Upper Union Street.
This stylish 80-seater restaurant has at its heart a shared-dining concept and the mixology trend, offering guests an immersive space in which to connect around good food, fine wines and bespoke cocktails.
Heading up the kitchen is Chef Amori Burger, previously of MORE Family Collection’s award-winning Lion Sands properties.
Unbridled by a singular cuisine, the globally inspired menu features indulgent dishes, split into big plates and smalls. It’s all about punchy flavours packed into hearty dishes and served potluck style.
In line with the culinary philosophy the cocktail menu has a strong focus on local, seasonal ingredients and flavours. In addition, a carefully curated wine list is set to include small scale and boutique, local wineries and winemakers.
“Our biggest project in Cape Town to date” – that’s the word from CEO Robert More who proudly unveils both the new Cape Cadogan and Upper Union.
“We’ve taken exceptional care with the modernisation of Cape Cadogan to elevate her status even further as a Kloof Street Neighbourhood landmark.
“Every detail has been deliberately and creatively addressed, from the bold colour palette to the novel dining experience we offer at Upper Union – a food destination that’s open to the public. We are looking forward to this exciting new chapter and to sharing our beautifully updated heritage hotel with our guests.”
In early 2023, Cape Cadogan Residence, currently still under development, will be launched. This stylish three bedroom exclusive-use residence combines the privacy and comfort of a home with the luxury and amenities of a boutique hotel and expands MORE Family Collection’s Residences portfolio.
